Queensland creation of pineapples is defaced by high creation rates and moderate development rates. Also, labor deficiency is prevailing in this market.Noteworthy, the handling plant industry has likewise declined by 78% after hardened rivalry from imported pineapple products.Predominantly,Queensland is the primary maker of pineapples in Australia.Further,84,721tonnes of Pineapple were delivered in 2010 with 5% of it being exported. Also, the pineapple industry in Australia was esteemed at $73.2 million dollars(Sanewski and Newett,2012) Creation state Queensland Absolute creation (tons) 84,721 Fare % 5 Industry Value $ 73.2m Source: S. Newett, D, Nambour. The pineapple advertise is the subject of the article. The rural business has the pineapple business. Overwhelmingly, Pineapples in Australia are developed in the province of Queensland. Be that as it may, the pineapple advertise has been unfavorably influenced by over the top sun beams in the pineapple ranches prompting low volumes of harvestable Pineapples. Low creation of pineapples infers that most ranchers will lose their harvests along these lines low income and low overall revenues. Thus, theres a solid probability to cost increment by ranchers. This is a direct result of barely any amounts of collected pineapples and the additional expense of buying and providing sunblock. Definitely influencing the gracefully and request of pineapples. Critical, use of the sunblock is a creative move by ranchers to shield their pineapple crops from the hurtful and over the top beams of the sun .This will thus expand the expense of creation for the pineapple ranchers. Thusly, the interest and gracefully of pineapples will be influenced by increment in cost. Additionally, the sunblock application on the pineapples causes no quality decreases subsequently its reasonableness and comfort to pineapple reapers, canneries and shoppers. Quality and safe pineapple harvests are probably going to expand the benefits of the ranchers because of conceivable cost increment. Assessed Price versatility of chose Fruits. New harmony cost Thusly, the absolute income will lessen because of the cost increment. The decently value versatility of the pineapple business will cause less request along these lines less pineapples will be sold which means decreased income. At each cost climb of - 1.35 the interest for pineapples decreases subsequently barely any sold pineapples. Similarly, a value decline by a similar versatility will make the income go upwards. Strikingly, this is on the grounds that more pineapples will be sold because of low costs consequently increment in all out income. Remarkably, natural corruption is a prevailing negative externality in many markets of creation. Chopping down of backwoods and development to wetland regions in an offer to extend cultivating of pineapples by hopeful enormous scope pineapple ranchers is a developing worry for most economies. Likewise, utilization of unnecessary or conceivably unsafe agrochemicals to support the creation volumes and nature of pineapples is an inescapable supporter of soil and general land debasement. Therefore, there will be ecological contamination which will influence air quality around the influenced territories (Martin, 2016) Furthermore, soil fruitfulness will be influenced and in the long run lead to poor reap along these lines less income for the government. However, large scale pineapple creation prompts expanded income for the government.Naturally, small pineapple yield will thusly prompt low income edges and the other way around. Tax assessment by the legislature on cultivating types of gear and instruments of creation raises income for the administration which will thusly bear to offer quality essential items and administrations to its residents at reasonable costs (Martin, 2016) Transcendently, advancement has been created through innovative work of better cultivating practices and equipment. Moreover, innovation has made business open doors for researchers and researchers(Pettinger,2016) Positively, horticulture advances enterprise, independence, respect of nature through legitimate cultivating rehearses and keeps up great nature of air and the environment. However, poor cultivating strategies lessen land esteem, loss of biodiversity, soil disintegration among other negative externalities on the environment.(BlogBio2,2016) Thus, Organic horticulture has been proposed to help forestall and decrease natural contamination through use or natural excrement and different practices rather than synthetics particularly pesticides and composts .Subdsequently, the administration of Australia ought to control cultivating rehearses through guideline and inconvenience of stiffer fines and imposes on account of ecological debasement practices(Blogbio2,2016)Funding of Research and improvement activities are an approach to guarantee innovative headways on great cultivating practices and hardware . Interview Profile Paper - Free Essay Example

To be successful the field of business, you must learn how to handle and manage risks. The textbook states that risk is best understood as a phenomenon that affects multiple levels of social organization(Waldron Kassling, 2018, p. 4). The ability to express an individuals ideas and messages while managing risks will allow you to grow as an employee/employers. I have conducted two interviews with business individuals (Brandon Reeser and Paul Williams) who are positioned highly in sales within their respected business, what I found to was how to understand and use effective communication in businesses that can help negotiations and managing risk within organization. I chose to interview two individuals because one works for a small business with around two hundred employees while the other is employed by a large corporation with around three thousand employees. Taking this information and effectively implement the course material can help optimize my learning experience and develop a better understanding of how it applies in the real world. Safari Books Online is a relatively small company that has close to two hundred employees working for the company. Brandon Reeser is a Senior Accountant Executive at Safari Books Online, this means he is in charge of all outside sell, acquiring new businesses and accounts, and managing small accounts. Essentially he is in charge of moving the entire sales process along smoothly. In an interview dealing with how he became successful in sales Brandon said Sales are used every day in every situation, and I am particularly good at selling myself to people before I ever sell my product. On a daily basis Reeser is communicating with others, whether it is on in person, phone call, email, video chat, as well as texting or instant messaging. The most powerful channels of communication, Reeser states anything that you can add a personal touch, make them believe you care and put in that effort. Examples of these channels are face to face or video chats, having that interaction that makes the message more effective. While the weaker channels are going to be text messages and emails because it lacks the immediate feedback and leaves room for misinterpretation. When communicating with anywhere from thirty to fifty people in a day, its critical to manage time with everyone to make sure everythin g is running as efficiently as possible. After being asked about non-verbal and verbal communication Reeser claimed You will see it every single day, either reading a client to know how to approach them or if they seem distracted, or also verbally making sure everyone is on the same page and understands the next step. Having a clear understanding of the information and ideas is necessary to have effective communication because. Managing to make what you are saying match the things that you are doing is a key way to gain credibility and trust from your audience. Reeser states that The best way to create a lasting impression is your actions not your words. Knowing when and where to talk is important as well as knowing who you are talking to, knowing to use a more direct approach or indirect, usually just depends on the situation. By trying to keep the messages positive, it allowed Reeser to gain the trust and confidence in his team and vice versa. A tip Brandon Reeser offered me was that silence is a powerful tool if you use it the right way meaning the audience now had to think about what has been said and has an opportunity to present any thoughts they may have had. All these techniques and concepts can help climb up the ranks and get a great job where you love what you are doing. The next company we are going to focus on is Takeda Pharmaceuticals, which is a much larger corporation with three thousand emplo yees. In Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Paul Williams is a Strategic Account Manager who is tasked with leading a team of pharmaceutical sales representatives. The job this team has to accomplish is to work with hospitals, medical schools, infusion centers, and top doctors to manage the sale and billing of the products. He is also responsible for the training of others on how to infuse the medicine. Williams said I have always wanted to go into the medical field, but I was always better at working with people and making sells, this is the perfect middle ground. After being with the company for fourteen years, he has held ten different job positions. He said the reason he has done so well in the business was because when you love what you do and believe in it, others see that, recognize that you care, and they will listen to what you have to say. With this jobs comes a lot of communications by email, text messages, phone call, or whatever else you can to deliver the message to the intended audience. When dealing with clients, there are signs non-verbally and verbally that will dictate how the conversation will go. If a customer seems in a rush and distracted, these non-verbals help to adjust and find a different approach that could be more effective. Or if a client is verbally saying one thing but then doing another, then it is not sincere, this allows for an evaluation whether t o keep pushing or to move on. An average work day, Williams could talk to twenty people in one account, then talk to three or four accounts in that day. His approach to the people interact with depends on who and what the subject is about but always try to avoid negative messages. Williams stated when talking to others, you have to make sure it is honest and real, make it seem like their input is valuable, that is the best way to communicate. To bring value to the team it is good to create a lasting impression that makes people know why you are here and this can be accomplished by always look and act profession and being resourceful and knowledgeable (Paul Williams). It is always significant to give the audience reasons why they should listen to you or believe the things that are stated. The last thing Williams had to say was it is easier to communicate verbally and non-verbally with other the more passion you have for what you do. The key to success was not in the communication itself, but how to deliver the communication is what is matters the most in business. The reason I interviewed two men who are high up in sales is because that is a field that I would be interested in exploring and getting into. Jobs in marketing, sales, and service require creativity and good people skills. These people perform specific duties such as managing client relationships, and had the ability to be team players (Careers in Marketing, Sales, and Service). These are qualities that I believe I have and can train becoming successful in this area. There is always a need for Sales as long as business is around and there are also so many options to go into. One job I researched to find more information about was a Sales Representative. The job description is a Sales Representatives of technical and scientific products are responsible for generating and increasing sales of products for manufacturers and wholesale distributors (Echaore-McDavid). Someone is this position can make anywhere from $33,000 to $122,000 a year, with the education level to enter is a Bachelor s Degree or higher. This is interesting to me because it is a risk and it is all on you to make your sells and get more money or be not be good at the job and not make any money. In conclusion, whether you are employed for a big corporation, or a smaller business it does not change the need to communicate. Using the right tools and practicing effective communication is necessary to move up and be successful. I have already seen two examples of people who could get amazing jobs because they understood how to communicate and interact with others in a workplace. Utilizing research and listening to the experiences from others is a great way to better understand how to communicate and how to be successful. In business, the pen is truly mightier than the sword. Accidentally Fueling a Diesel With Gasoline

To keep people from accidentally  fueling up a diesel engine with gasoline,  most diesel fuel pumps are distinguished by green markings and green fueling nozzle handles. In addition, the inside of a diesel vehicle fuel door has a â€Å"Diesel Fuel Only† label. But what happens if you inadvertently fill your diesel car or pickup with gasoline? Whether you’re new to  diesel ownership or might have both diesel and gasoline powered vehicles in your own personal fleet, it can be oh-so-easy to accidentally misfuel your diesel tank with gasoline. Filling a  fuel tank  is such an ordinary and mundane task, that just a moment’s inattention (did you really need to read that text message?) can cause you to grab the wrong nozzle and pump away. Bad enough if you realize the mistake right away and can get the car towed to a car dealership or independent repair shop to have the tank drained—a $500-$1,000 expensive nuisance. But what if you don’t even realize the mistake and end up driving away with a tank full of gasoline? Chances are you won’t get very far, perhaps just a mile or so. That’s when the diesel in the fuel line gives way to the fresh batch of gasoline on the way from the tank, and the engine starts to run â€Å"funny.† Of course, it all depends on how much diesel remained in the tank before the gasoline was added, and how new and sophisticated the diesel engine is. How Much Gas Does It Take to Harm a Diesel Engine In a 2007 or newer  Ã¢â‚¬Å"clean diesel† engine, any amount of gasoline will probably damage the sensitive emissions control components (DPF,  OxyCat, and  SCR) and system. In older engines with much less sophisticated emissions systems, a lightly diluted (say 90 percent diesel/10 percent gasoline) mix would likely pass through with little or no detriment. It might simply cause reduced engine power, perhaps a bit more noise, and possibly a sharp warning from the emissions sensors that detect something other than pure diesel exhaust. It’s a high concentration of gasoline that spells real trouble. Whether a modern clean common rail diesel (CRD) or an old indirect injection unit, burning straight gasoline or highly diluted diesel fuel will almost certainly result in catastrophic damage to the mighty  diesel engine. Dos and Don’ts If you are fortunate enough to discover you were pumping gasoline rather than diesel before driving away, here are the dos and don’ts. DO NOT  start the engine, even just to move the car from the pumps.DO NOT  turn the ignition on, even just to unlock the steering wheel. This could activate an electric fuel pump and feed tainted fuel into the engine injectors.  DO  tell the station attendant you cannot move the car and pay for the fuel dispensed.DO  call your roadside service provider and request a tow to either the vehicle’s brand dealership or an independent repair shop.DO  have the fuel tank drained and receive confirmation that the contaminated fuel was limited to the fuel tank. If you don’t notice the  mis-fueling error until the car has been driven, stop as soon as it is safe and call your roadside service provider to request a tow. Unfortunately, the price to repair the damage will be very expensive and this is a situation that  will not  be covered by your automaker’s warranty. What Gas Does to a Diesel The problem is multifaceted. It is a function of the completely different burn characteristics of the fuels (volatile and explosive gasoline versus high flash point diesel fuel), and the peculiarities of engine design in regards to how fuel is ignited (spark ignition  versus  compression ignition). Gasoline is formulated to resist auto-ignition in a spark engine (depending on the octane), so this fuel introduced into a diesel engine either won’t ignite or will more likely ignite at the wrong time causing severe  detonation—literally a shock wave throughout your cylinder. Though diesel engine  reciprocating components—pistons, wrist pins, and connecting rods—are built to withstand enormous explosive force, the shock wave effects of uncontrolled detonation can easily destroy them. If by chance major engine damage is avoided, there are other serious consequences. Diesel fuel itself acts as a lubricant  for the fuel pump and delivery system as well as the  valve train. Running thin, low viscosity gasoline through a diesel fuel system would starve it for lubrication and cause those sensitive components to rub together, eventually destroying them. Additionally, the entire fuel system will have been affected. That means the fuel pump, fuel filter, and  fuel injectors will likely need replacement. In the worst-case scenario, it might be cheaper to just replace the engine and components. Good News for Newer Diesel Vehicles Gasoline vehicle fuel filler openings were made smaller in diameter beginning in the early 1980s. This was in response to the mandatory use of unleaded fuel to protect  catalytic converters  and the negative effects of lead to human health. That’s why the smaller diameter gas filler nozzle fits into the larger filler opening of diesel cars. Then in 2009, BMW launched its clean  diesels  in the U.S. with a â€Å"mis-fueling protection device,† essentially a gas cap replacement with a diameter specific to diesel nozzles, as standard equipment. Audi followed in 2011 with a similar device, and beginning with 2013 vehicles, Volkswagen redesigned its fuel fillers to accept only diesel fuel. Today, nearly every diesel vehicle—car or pickup—will only accept diesel fuel. What Diesel Fuel Does to a Gasoline Engine Fortunately, this one is almost impossible (notice we said almost) to ignore, since the larger diesel filler nuzzle won’t fit in a narrow gasoline filler neck. But if you do manage to get diesel fuel in your gasoline tank, the engine will probably not even start, and if it does, it’ll run terribly and probably smoke like a chimney. Engine damage will most likely be minimal to none, but a thorough and expensive fuel system flush will certainly be in order. This article was edited and updated by Larry E. Hall

Feasibility Study of Bata Company Samples †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the International Strategy of Bata Company. Answer: Introduction When a firm takes its operations beyond local borders, we say the company has gone global. In this case, its services and products aim the international market. The global operation offers a wide market and consequently will come with benefits and more profits would be realized. However, it comes with a lot of challenges and difficulties in the sense that certain qualifications must be met and several requirements should also be attained before thinking of taking the great step to move operations globally (Kraap, 2005). Global market captures many customers with varied tastes, therefore, it would give the firm an opportunity to come up with different types and styles of products to fit the needs of customers. The Company therefore keen to globally make its products available and get hold of more customers both locally and internationally. The firm has widened its base and its operations should, therefore, be felt outside the country since their satisfaction rate has risen to a tremen dous level due to their endeavor to manufacture quality products compared to their competitors in the region. One thing that has made this firm to keep a positive track is the availability of raw materials (Kedia, 2013). Importance of Global marketing Consequently, the quantity of production would have to increase to take care of the high demand and increased area of the market to serve. Apart from enjoying a wide market, the firm would be able to increase its sales volume. Venturing into the global market would make the firm acquire proper technological advances because a number of firms using varied technological skills would be met (Sandra, 2012). It is important to note that technology can be copied and shared at the same time, therefore, The Bata Company apart from using its own technology, will be in a position to learn and benefit from new technologies which may assist their production positively. Operating internationally would enable the firm to make perfection since it will give them an opportunity to meet other serious competitors who may be having an established base and more advance in the kind of products they manufacture (Chrispus, 2014).As a matter of fact, it is important to meet competition that is challenging en ough to you work extra hard to perfect your services and products. This can only be possible if your competitors are also strong to give you challenge that will make you change your approaches and tactics. The table below shows how Bata Company has competitively shares the market with its competitors in the last 5 years both locally and internationally. Bata Other companies % share 40 2014 60 44.4 2015 55.6 48 2016 52 49.1 2017 51.9 Firm level approaches and strategies The firm employs different strategies to meet the demands and preferences of its customers in their local market. To ensure that there is a total satisfaction guaranteed, the firm uses sales persons to market its products. At the same time, it has opened distribution points so that its customers can easily find their products. The sales outlets are spread almost in all major and small towns. This ensures easy accessibility and comparison of the prices and quality of products. When the firm expands to the international market, there are some new approaches that will come into place are able to change the face of the firm at the same time allowing the firm to perfect its operations to satisfy the expectations of its customers (Sushil, 2011). The current approaches of the firm do not allow the firm to explore its full potential as they limit the operations to local markets only. With the expansion to foreign markets, the company would be able to interact with new ideas and challenges fr om a global perspective. These ideas are significant in sharpening the firms strategies to challenge its competitors and compete at a favorable level with them. The current approaches also do not open an elaborate door for technological growth because the firm may only delve into the locally available technology. New technological advances can easily be derived from global market because there are countries that have more advanced technology than others (Michael, 2014). The Bata Company is keen on entering a new market such that is necessary to compare different market strategies available and that can be explored easily. A market strategy is a way in which an organization uses to enter a new market (Mookerjee, 2013). The new market can be local or international market. The Bata Company is taking the opportunity seriously and has several options with it. The following are some of the common entry strategies that would be looked at by the company: Exportation Licensing Franchising Partnering and Joint Venturing Exportation The Bata Company would wish to export its products to the international market through two ways. First, direct importation can be carried out by shipping goods to international market directly without involving subsidiaries. Secondly, indirect importation, which involves using intermediaries seem to be less costly and this would be the preferred method the which, Bata Company would wish to adopt before it strengthens itself for international market. Licensing To license is to allow another company the right to produce and participate in selling another firms products elsewhere through agreement. Although, this is a viable entry strategy, it can be a challenging strategy for the Bata Company since such company will need the knowledge of our own firm in doing so. Such local company must therefore be given all the right to information and it needs the resources in order to produce the same products as the Bata Company. Despite all the risks, this could be a better strategy for Bata Company, which has a big share of the potential market. Franchising It is so far the best method for entry into the international market, but only for food dealing companies. It stands for copy and pasting what is done in the local market into the international market. It will only serve for smaller markets and it may be successful when the company brand has been well established and known all over. The Bata Company is an established one, but we cannot use this strategy because we wish to control a very large market globally such that copying and pasting would be quite hard to achieve. Joint Venturing In this strategy, the Company may wish to work in collaboration with another company due to the expanded market. Because the international market is large, the Bata Company would need a local company to work together especially because of varied cultural differences. The two companies may come together to form a big third company, however, this company must be one that deals in similar products. They will therefore make a new product that is expected to create a new impact in the market. However, it needs a lot of consultations and trust because one company may decide to swallow the partner. Recommendation for the best strategy for the Bata Company The Bata Company should choose to use Export strategy because it is the easiest way to venture into global market. Having looked at the rest of the strategies, it is only the export strategy that does not need several procedures to undertake. Although, indirect exportation needs intermediaries to undertake, it is something that can be done one-on-one without having to build branches or big offices in other cities and towns. It is important therefore that the Bata Company learns about these strategies because they all have advantages and disadvantages as have been highlighted in this report. Risk, Cost, and Environmental factors Global business looks like a promising idea for businesses like the Bata Company; however, it comes with several challenges that must be looked upon. The common problem with international business is the language and cultural barriers. Sometimes working with customers or sales persons who do not understand or speak your native language may be challenging. This firm (Bata) in venturing into the international market would face this great problem. To counter this, the firm will require employing full-time translators or involve local people as their employees in order to have smooth operations (Robert, 2016). This as has been stated in this report, would require additional resources and a greater commitment on the side of the companys top management. We cannot forget that venturing into foreign market requires the firm to meet certain requirements as per the laws of that land. This may come through paying taxes and acquiring permits to carry out such businesses. Some of the procedures m ay be too involving, time-consuming, and expensive to undertake. This may delay the success and lower the morale of people. It is important to choose the right people on the ground to deal with at all times because some of working partners may have misleading thoughts and ideas that may lead to the collapse of the business or slow expansion (Onesmus, 2015). The Bata Company is looking forward to coming into a market in other countries that already have been invaded by similar business; therefore, we expect stiff completion from several competitors both locally and internationally. It is thus important to ask the question whether it would be possible to penetrate the market. If possible, they would it be profitable under the circumstances. Global ventures involve many risks as having been highlighted in this report. It is almost the same taking an entrepreneurial risk at some instances (Kerry, 2010). Quite little may be known about what may come later in the process of setting up the business in foreign countries. For example, there could be a stiff competition that could make the firm lose its business strategy grip thus failing at some points. In addition, some environmental problems may be caused by the exposition of certain by-products from the used materials. However, the firm ensures a proper disposal measure that leaves the environment clean and friendly. These are factors that need a proper explanation to the authorities of any foreign company so that there are no problems caused thereafter (John, 2012). Lastly, the cost of this venture is expected to be high because certain structures have to be in place to ensure smooth operations. Therefore, the Bata Company has arranged for financial backup to take care of any financial need in terms of employment, building new machines and equipment. The most feasible entry approach for Bata Company would be to carry out proper research in the country they wish to venture in. This will enable them to understand everything they need before implementing the idea (Rufus, 2017). Conclusion Foreign investment is termed as a good approach which can help both countries, for example, the host country benefits and the source country benefits too. The Bata Company has been in existence for decades now and has a strong base of capital and human capital as well. Therefore, there is a strong belief that it can do better outside its own country (Ritta, 2011). It has whatever it needs to stretch its wings to external world because it has managed to build its outlet locally. Global market captures many customers with varied tastes, therefore, it would give the firm an opportunity to come up with different types and styles of products to fit the needs of customers. The Company therefore keen to globally make its products available and get hold of more customers both locally and internationally (Robert, Global Management Issues and Ethics, 2014). The firm has widened its base and its operations should, therefore, be felt outside the country since their satisfaction rate has risen to a tremendous level due to their endeavor to manufacture quality products compared to their competitors in the region. One thing that has made this firm to keep a positive track is the availability of raw materials. References Chrispus. (2014). Globalization. Social Classes and Class Structure

Introduction According to Karl Marx, analyzing social classes and structures as well as variations in the structures are critical in understanding modern capitalism other social systems or even modes of production.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Social Classes and Class Structure specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Marx and Engels argue that the communist in the manifesto ‘†¦the history of all hitherto existing in the society is the class struggles† (Marx and Engels 35). Analyzing class distribution and struggles is relevant in establishing knowledge about capitalism. Social classes are divided into two main classes with distinct features one comprises the owners or possessors of property as well as the means of production. This group performs the role of production. The other factor is concerned producers and controllers of the surpluses in relation to human social labor. The economic factors in t he modern world govern social relationships in capitalism than it did in ancient times. This paper therefore discusses stratification and conflicts that exist in society. It bases on the statements made by Marx in scholarly works. Relevance of Marx Ideas Divisions in Capitalism Earlier societies consisted of several sections or clusters that can be perceived to be classes. They were not classes parse but elites not specifically based on economic factors but also incorporated other things such as priesthood, knights or military elite. In the modern society, other classes of people such as capital owners, petty bourgeoisie and peasants are incorporated in the production process.Advertising Looking for essay on social sciences? Bourgeoisie The bourgeoisie controls the means of production such as capital and labor. The capital exploit the workers by misusing their labor meaning that they produce much but are paid less. They utilize the surplus value created from employment of labor to accumulate and expand their capital. Owning massive resources is not equivalent to possessing capital power and labor; it does not make an individual to be bourgeoisie. To be a capitalist or member of bourgeoisie class entails the ownership of huge capital, active participation in capital accumulation, using capital to organize production, employ and exploit labor and finally make the capital self regulating by using the surplus value to continue the cycle of capital accumulation (Marx and Engels 48). Bourgeoisies began in cities of medieval Europe. This was during the development of mercantilism, artisans and manufacturing. The main aim of economic survival for the people was increase wealth through trade and commerce. The bourgeoisies needed much freedom in ma rketing activities and economic expansion activities. Capital ownership was achieved by labor employment (industrial capital) while for some it was acquired through trade (merchant capital). Those who employed workers to create and expand capital succeeded in acquiring capital consequently leading the sector of bourgeoisie.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Social Classes and Class Structure specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The proletariat The workers only own their labor implying that they earn their living through their ability to work. They do not own any resources in form of capital meaning that they own nothing apart from their hands, bodies and minds/skills. The Proletariat works hard to sustain their lives and provide basic needs to their relatives and other dependants. They have to seek employment if they are to continue coexisting in the society. For an employee, working for a capitalist is not peaceful i nstead; the kind of relation that exists is exploitative in nature because the worker performs many activities with insufficient returns. The exploitative relationship between the worker and the employer is cumulative meaning that it keeps on repeating itself. The capitalists accumulate wealth by underpaying the worker (Marx and Engels 50). The workers produce goods and services that belong to the capitalist meaning that workers are also properties of capitalists. They produce goods that create surpluses to the bourgeoisie but they remain in poverty. Exploitation occurs in every day’s production process, which ends up restricting workers from acquiring wealth and regenerates the best working environments for further exploitation (Marx and Engels 50). The existing mode of production is arranged in such a way that the property owners continue enjoying better opportunities while workers continue occupying their current positions.Advertising Looking for essay on social sciences? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Capitalists accumulate the excesses obtained in the production process by workers. The intersection point between workers and capitalists is the production process. The capitalist who create struggles and intrigues hence causing tension in the society exploits the workers. Alienation of Proletariat Although the workers are the direct producers of goods, they are slaves of the goods they produce. The produced good has more value than the worker does because they are offered maximum security and stored in safe places. The workers produce goods that they do not consume, they produce for others. The increase in product value decreases the viability of the workers. The worker ends up being treated the same way goods are treated, treated as equals. Workers are perpetually pushed to the periphery leading to alienation from the process of production. The way workers relate to the whole process of production leaves a lot to be desired because the relationship is unnatural and uncalled for. T he workers never find satisfaction because they satisfy the interests of other individuals (Capitalists). The worker views the whole process of production as forced labor because actually it is inhuman. The worker ends up being alienated from the self because of the last two forms of alienation. The worker portrays two personalities; one is the feeling of belonging to capitalism because the worker is separated from real consciousness. In the other hand, workers perceive themselves as human beings ((Marx and Engels 54). The last form of alienation that dissatisfied Marx is alienation from others implying that the worker is separated from other people. Workers cannot relate normally to others because individuals with separated self cannot interact in accordance to societal norms. They view others as properties of capitalism. It is at this point that Marx noted with finally that only a revolution would salvage humankind from all these troubles. Social Stratification: Marxist Perspectiv e Marx observed in his statements that capitalism brings about differentiations in society. The rich are at the top while the poor are at the bottom perishing in great poverty. In modern capitalistic societies, classes differentiate people. According to Marx, the capitalistic culture is a divisive force not an integrating one. The existing social groups are differentiated in property meaning that some benefit more than others do. The owners of the means of production who enjoy power, prestige and luxurious life occupy the higher positions. Social stratification basing on property is found in all human societies. For societies to survive therefore role allocation is indispensable. Society attaches unequal rewards to social positions because people differ in ability and positions differ in terms of importance. Unfortunately, the important positions benefit the elite (Marx and Engels 56). There is a heated debate on whether unequal rewards function to motivate talented individuals. Gen erally, social stratification basing on capital is a mechanism in which some exploit others. The elite uses the institutions of the state to advance their interests, in fact Marx termed the state as the committee of dominant class. Those with highest rewards enjoy superior life chances such as access to high education, quality housing and special Medicare. Those who occupy important positions erect barriers to recruitment of others into comfortable positions. They use capital power to restrict access to their positions by creating unnecessary demands to the position services. The different rewards exist to propel hostility, suspicion and mistrust. It gives the low class the feeling of exclusion from larger society leading to formation of solidarity, which might cause tensions and more conflicts with threats of revolutions. Conclusion The statements made by Karl Marx serve to describe how people should liberate themselves. Liberation would be achieved through people’s consciou sness. People will arise up against the existing mode of production because of its social injustices. The mode hands a few the power of investment while the majority survive at the mercy of the owners of the means of production. The state cannot liberate the masses because the capitalist to enhance self-interests uses it. Exploitation and alienation are the most pressing issues among the workers; they are the same things that disillusioned Marx to an extent of calling for a revolution to guarantee mass happiness. I know that the sun will rise tomorrow morning Essay Example

I know that the sun will rise tomorrow morning Essay Example I know that the sun will rise tomorrow morning Paper I know that the sun will rise tomorrow morning Paper How is it that I am so sure of this one statement to be absolutely true, without question? Perhaps my personal experience can be held responsible, or my indefinite ability to rationalize and subconsciously conduct legitimate reasoning. The puzzling question still remains, however, unanswered. One of the most amazing gifts given to us human beings was the ability to see. Our eye, the most complex organ in our bodies except for our brains, is said to contribute towards 85% of our total knowledge. Because of our capability to see, we see the sun raised high above the horizon every morning. Mind you, this is every single morning. Couldnt this be counted as factual proof that the sun will rise tomorrow? During the past 16 years of my life, I have never encountered a day when the sun had not risen to welcome me for another, beautiful, granted day. Nor has any other human being, dead or alive. I think it is safe to say that lifes processes, its patterns, this one anyway, will not change for another zillion years to come. Take note, I am not suggesting that I know the sun will keep on rising every morning. I am merely stating the fact that I know the sun will rise tomorrow morning. Inductive reasoning allows me to come to this very conclusion. Because of my own experience with the sun, added with experience of every single human being that has/is tread/treading this planet, I can conclude that the sun will rise tomorrow morning. David Hume, a Scottish philosopher, once stated, Induction is based on experience. The most straightforward way to approach this statement would be the use of scientific evidence. Scientists have concluded that, instead of the planets and the sun rotating around the Earth (like medieval, religious philosophers had concluded), the Earth, along with all the other planets in the solar system, rotate around the Sun. The reason why we see the sun every single day can be explained by the relationship between the Sun and the Earth. Because of the Earth tilt (23. 5 Degrees), the fact that the Earth rotates within itself, and the fact that the Earth, while rotating within itself, orbits the sun, the suns rays only hit half of the Earth at once. We are, half of the day, exposed not to the suns rays, and the other half exposed to the suns rays, which creates day, and night, inevitably. This is exactly why the North and South Poles are always blanketed over a think layer of ice, for it doesnt get exposed to the suns powerful rays as much as other places do on the face of the Earth (in fact they dont get exposed to sunlight for 6 months during the period of one year, but that can be explained logically by angles the positioning of the Earth). Hence, depending on where you are on the Earth, the times at which the sun will rise will differ, but the sun will always rise no matter where you are. Rational accounting and science can help us proceed closer to that shaded answer in the distance, whilst providing even more evidence to prove that the sun will rise tomorrow morning. Human beings constantly question everyday transactions, whether that is a certain action, or a sentence long statement. The ability to question our inner thoughts is crucial, for it is what makes us human. No other animal can rationalize like we do. For this matter, we must question the belief that the sun will rise tomorrow morning. How may we come to refute this belief? One may have learned in Mathematics class, that the probability of something occurring is never zero. The word never, in this context, is perfect because it is certainly never. So why, one may ask, that with the suns detrimental 6000 degrees-Celsius core, is it said that the sun will not explode in our life time, let alone tomorrow? Scientists say that it will happen during the course of 5~6 billion years from now. Wouldnt tomorrow be included within the time span of during the course of 5~6 billion years from now? Hence, what would the probability of the sun exploding before sunrise tomorrow morning be? All we know is this: Certainly not 0%. The number could be very close to zero, but it will not be zero. That alone is enough evidence to refute the simple belief that the sun will rise tomorrow morning. Who knows if the sun will be sucked mercilessly into the dark hells of the black hole? It probably wont happen, but it could. This is inevitable. Another slight possibility is that the media was lying to us the whole time. Sure, the media lies to us viewers all the time, whether that is through domestic complications, and/or patriotic cover-ups (weve seen this innumerable times during the course of our history). How do we know that we have been lied to all this time about the suns existence? Who knows, maybe all the governments in the world came together and decided to plant a massive, ultra-beam satellite into the skies, and with one switch of a button, the light rays could be switched off just like a light bulb. Now the possibility of this being the truth is incredibly low, as many would agree, but is definitely not zero, for we civilians have never looked up there to see for ourselves if thats the ultimate truth or not. I know the sun will rise tomorrow morning. However, there are other things in life we think we know, but if thought about thoroughly, can be easily questioned. Thus it is important for us to analyze how we came to know such fundamental, but fascinating verities. Many forces that have come from our society, our experience, our instinct, have influenced us to become knowers of particular beliefs, or ideas. These forces can ultimately shape who we really are, and what we indisputably know.

Analysis of Offshoring Jobs Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Analysis of Offshoring Jobs - Research Paper Example India has become one of the dominant players in the field of offshoring; this has taken place mostly in works related to software. There are several factors that have aided the evolution of offshoring in India and its spread to other countries. The first factor includes the regulations put by the Indian government during the 1970s; these regulations allowed all foreign ventures to have ownership of majority Indians. Another factor that contributed to offshoring included the advent of the internet as well as telecommunications technology. This enabled the doing of computer-based work anywhere in the world. As a result, the phenomenon of offshoring spread to countries all over the world.Offshoring witnessed immense changes during the early years of the 1990s. The CEOs and CIOs of large corporations realized the need to reduce budgets of information technology. The significant and rapid development of web-based communication made information technology become an essential part of carryi ng out business, thus leading to the revolutionization of the corporate world. To curb the costs of maintaining processes, Chief Information Officers and Chief Executive Officers changed their strategies and began outsourcing the development and maintenance of IT systems. This set the trend for other support and administrative functions being outsourced.According to Gupta (2008), there are several jobs that are offshored all over the world; these jobs tend to be more affected by outsourcing than any other jobs.

Materials&Manufacturing Report (( car body pressing )) Essay

Materials&Manufacturing Report (( car body pressing )) - Essay Example Dies is used for press blanking to the section and is specific depending on the necessity of the shape of the panel required or if there is justification in the volume of production. Blanks may be sufficient for some panels, trapezoidal, rectangular, or slightly curved shapes to be produced by line or shearing machines. The oscillating shear is a development for use since it is more flexible for the blank preparation with a stroke rate of more than 100 per minute. The blanking line includes; de-coiler, coil handling, flattener or leveller, blanking press, feeder, and stacker for blanks. The function of a corrective leveller is for the removal of; These blanks which are tailored welded for the complex panels are primed through diverse linking processes including; spot welding, laser welding, and mash-seam welding that result into better strength material that is cost effective. Pieces similar or different in gauges or materials are welded together into a single blank before the stamping process. Dense or thin or different strength groupings also result in the reduction of weight. These tailored blanks may reduce the stack tolerance and improve the dimensional accuracy of the vehicle. The inner assembly’s dimensional accuracy of a conventional door covers tolerance in the width of the steel, and the tolerances associated with piercing, stamping, and spot welding reinforcements. The improvement of accuracy is achieved by the minimization if the reinforcements. The dimensional variation of hole location in door panels have been reduced with laser welding of blanks from +/- 0.5 to +/-0.075 mm. Spot welding or seam welding may be used but for a tailored blank, the laser welding blanks are used since they provide three advantages including; However, there is a greater demand of strict control of the butt-joint pressure, the edge quality, and other parameters of laser welding that includes; welding speed, power, beam alignment,

Best Practices for Social Science Writing Essay Example for Free

Best Practices for Social Science Writing Essay When social scientists write their research papers, they usually discuss the methods that they employed in gathering and analyzing their data and the results that they were able to generate using these methods. They however seldom concentrate on the writing process itself (Cuba, 1997). Writing in the field of social science requires the use of insight and research to better understand and make concrete observations and findings about the various behavioral elements. There are many methods of conducting social science studies namely through observations, interviews, surveys and case studies. However, when one starts writing the research paper that would embody these pertinent findings, the writer usually faces the challenges that many social science writers encounter. These problems include the complexities of achieving clarity, the potential for committing biases, writing in the first-person perspective, the use of quotations and in-text citations to support the analysis, and formatting styles particular to the field of social sciences. When writing one’s own research paper, it is important for a scholar in the field of social science to have a grasp of the basic writing techniques peculiar to social science in order to produce an academic paper that is relevant, informative and worth reading. The prevalence of search engines and the use of the World Wide Web have made it easier for scholars nowadays to conduct their studies and research with ease and in an expeditious manner. The libraries and other academic centers which make available to the public the latest references has also contributed to a great extent to achieving academic quality of various writings. Complexities in Achieving Clarity Like any other field of study, effective writing requires constant practice. This entails continuous process of writing, editing and rewriting ideas and use of words to convey these thoughts clearly to the intended audience (Cuba, 1997). Oftentimes, students of social science put off writing their research paper until they have completed doing all their research and compiled their bibliography. This practice however sometimes leads to insufficient time in writing the paper itself. In order to achieve clarity when writing a social science research paper, Hult (1996) enumerated the two components that must be considered: rhetorical question and organization. The components of a rhetorical situation include 1) the writer’s purpose; 2) the writer’s persona; 3) the potential readers or audience; 4) the subject matter and; 5) the appropriate language or tone (Hult, 1996). In starting the research write-up, the writer must determine the purpose of his paper and he must be able to define it clearly throughout the entire paper. The purpose need not be complex. A simple purpose will do so long as the readers can have a grasp of what the research is all about. Writers in the field of social science must also avoid writing in the first-person persona as this will affect the objectivity of their research. Identifying the intended audience will also help the writer in deciding what specific issues to discuss and what areas to avoid. For example, a person writing in the field of political science will have to consider political analysts as his potential readers. The subject matter is the most important aspect of the rhetorical situation (Hult, 1996). A writer must carefully select his thesis statement and decide from the materials gathered what facts must be included as well as those which need not be discussed. Furthermore, the research writer might also consider providing a glossary of terms when writing on a technical subject in order to make it easier for the readers to understand the language and tone of the research paper. Omitting Biases and Avoiding First Person Writing Style It is not uncommon practice in the field of social science to write using the first person persona. Writing from the first person perspective however indicates subjectivity in arriving at one’s own research findings and this in turn diminishes the objectivity of the research. In order to be more persuasive, the writer must couch his paper from a third person perspective so as to avoid the impression that he is impelled more by his own biases rather than reporting the facts gathered from relevant data. Omitting biases should be the foremost consideration of every social science writer because this field requires objectiveness and keen understanding of the facts and data. Unlike writers in the field of literature who have unbridled discretion to unleash their feelings and emotions in their papers, social science writers are bound by their duty to report the facts as they appear and not as they think it should be. The field of social science is primarily detail-oriented and must be supported by relevant, empirical, and reliable facts. In order to avoid biases, the writer must always dwell on the facts gathered and must use relevant sources to support his findings. Primary and secondary sources play an important role in the persuasiveness of one’s research work because the extent of the credibility of a research paper is to a great extent determined by the depth of research done by the researcher to support his study. The writer must also avoid labeling his chosen population or individual participants to avoid offending the readers. When dealing with a particular ethnic group or race, it is advisable to call them as they would like to be called. In order to avoid language biases, use the terminology applicable in the research itself. For example, when reporting on a study conducted on two types of participants, it is advisable to describe them according to how they were classified in the given study provided the labels are in themselves not offensive per se. Minimizing the Use of Quotations A writer’s source material must be in the form of paraphrases and summaries. However, paraphrased materials must still be properly documented either through in-text citations or footnotes or endnotes. Hult (1996) added that putting source material in your own words will improve the flow of your paper since the paraphrased style will blend with your own writing style and will thus contribute to its consistency. Minimize the use of direct quotations. The use of too many direct quotations distracts the reader and it also minimizes coherence of the writing style. It also leaves the impression that the writer knows little about his topic and is in fact relying heavily on what others have come up with (Hult, 1996). What the writer can do is paraphrase or summarize the portion of the materials used and document it properly. If using direct quotes cannot be avoided, the following principles are helpful in incorporating them smoothly in the research paper. First, when using quotations with four lines or less in length, enclose them with quotation marks and incorporate them in the text. Second, quotes should be introduced using the verb tense which is consistent with the tense of the quoted material. Third, change the capital letter to lower case and vice versa, within the quote if necessary. Fourth, enclosed in brackets the letter or words inserted inside the quoted material to separate them from the quoted material itself. Fifth, use ellipsis to signal that a material has been omitted from the quote. Sixth, punctuate the direct quote as it appears from the original. Seventh, a period or a comma which is part of the quote should be placed inside the quotation marks. Eighth, use a colon to introduce a quote which is more than one sentence or if the introductory material prior to the quoted portion is too long. Ninth, use a comma for short quotes (Hult, 1996). Using In-text Citations to Support Analysis A researcher who intends to make use on in-text citation in his write-up should keep in mind the American Psychological Association (APA) style which requires the use of past tense or present perfect tense when referring to earlier research materials. For example, it is incorrect to say â€Å"Smith (2008) states that†¦Ã¢â‚¬ when referring to Smith’s research findings. Instead, the researcher must employ the past or present perfect tense; hence, the in-text citation should appear like this: â€Å"Smith (2008) stated/has stated that†¦Ã¢â‚¬ In-text citations must follow the author-date format under the APA citation style, e. g. , (Smith, 2008) and a complete documentation of the source must appear in the reference list. Electronic sources are cited in the same manner as citing a printed document, e. g. , (Purdue University Online Writing Lab, 2008). For sources with no date available, place â€Å"n. d. † (meaning â€Å"no date†) after the author’s last name, e. g. , (Smith, n. d. ). Formatting Expectations A writer must see to it that his paper is professional in appearance. This is not to say however that attention to format should be every social science writer’s foremost consideration. It is also equally important to confer with your instructor as to what should be the appropriate format style for the particular paper. When preparing the paper, it is best to be conservative when it comes to formatting style rather than be ostentatious and vulgar, thus making the paper look less serious and informal. Hence, margin must not be justified on both side of the page but only on the left side only. The American Psychological Association (APA) is the most commonly used citation style format in the field of social sciences. The guidelines provided under the APA provides a useful tool in writing research papers, using in-text citations and reference page and using footnotes or endnotes. Under the APA formatting style, page headers are required to be placed in the upper right-hand of every page. This page header must contain the first two to three words of the title followed by the page number. The title page should already show include the page header. A running head must also appear on the first line of the title page flush-left. On the upper half of the page, centered, the full title of the paper, the name of the writer and university or affiliation must be indicated (Purdue University Online Writing Lab, 2008). Research papers are normally comprised of the title page, the abstract (if appropriate), the main body, the references, and the appendixes (if appropriate). The abstract need not be written for short research papers but for published research reports, an abstract is always required regardless of the length of the paper (Hult, 1996). Appendix may be used to include raw data and other information that need not appear in the main body but is likewise important in the research paper. It is located after the reference page and is labeled sequentially in letters. The reference page must include all the sources used in the research paper. The sources must be in alphabetical order by author’s last name and need not be numbered. Conclusion Writing is a necessary aspect of social research (Cuba, 1997). A good research means that the writer gave great effort in collecting and organizing his data as well as in organizing his findings in a coherent and scholarly manner suitable to the academic community he intends to present his study to. In preparing the research paper, every writer in the field of social science must consider the pertinent style guides applicable. The writing process is an analytic strategy that can only be improved through practice. This necessarily means that every social science researcher preparing his paper must open to revisions. The first draft must not be the final paper. Every writer must be also be willing to take constructive criticism from his colleagues because all too often, a writer cannot see the errors of his own work unless others point them out. Letting others read your research paper will help you in assessing some of the loopholes in your own arguments. Writing in the field of social sciences is an important aspect of the research itself because the manner in which a given study is presented contributes to the persuasiveness of the one’s findings and output. As such, it is important to be familiar with the writing techniques, styles, and formats applicable in your field of research so as to avoid mistakes and errors in presenting your research. The APA citation format style is a helpful tool in the social sciences and every scholar in this field must familiarize himself this formatting to avoid the inconvenience of revising and rewriting the research paper. The social science paper must be formal as to its structure and form and the writer must avoid using first person persona that is usually employed in the literary field. The sentences must be well-crafted and concise and must clearly reflect in a coherent and thorough manner the findings of the researcher without the need of extravagant words or details. Social science research writing is a challenging task for every writer. It requires practice and hard work just like collecting the data itself. It is an inevitable part of every researcher’s academic life and it cannot be avoided. Hence, every researcher must be familiar with the format and style peculiar to this field in order to increase the success of one’s research paper. References Cuba, Lee (1997). Courageouse Fear and what it takes to be courageous :: essays research papers

. Courageous Fear And What It Means To Be A Courageous Soldier Many soldiers of today know what courage is. Courage is doing what is needed to do, not what absolutely must be done. In Tim O’Brien’s â€Å"The Things They Carried†, the soldiers were not what one would think of as courageous. The soldiers were courageous in the sense that their courage came from fear of dishonor. The soldiers did what must be done in order to keep their honorable reputation. True courage was not present until the end of the story. *Courage in the context of combat in this story was not real courage; it was merely going through the motions of being in war.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"So, soldiers dream; they pretend and deny in order to diminish the horror. Precisely because it captures that human reality in the midst of war and unbelievable horror, O’Brien claims that â€Å"Cacciato is the most realistic thing I’ve written...† (Tim O’Brien and the Art of the True War Story: â€Å"Night March† and â€Å"Speaking of Courage†)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   *The fear of being in the war caused them to have mistaken courage. The objects they carry give the soldiers a sense of courage and luck in having these things.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Truly, the men recognize the delusional nature of their fantasy, for they knew that† they would never be at a loss for things to carry.† The implication that they will be carrying their experiences once they return also appears here, in the narrator’s evocation of â€Å"the great American war chest,†which includes Fourth of July Sparklers, Easter eggs, and the forests of Minnesota. â€Å" (The Things They Carried, Criticism about Tim O’Brien)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   *What it means to be a courageous soldier.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"It’s such a complicated subject, it’s hard to know what to say. Alexander the Great’s Legacy

Alexander the Great was one of the best generals the world has ever seen. His determination helped him spread the Greek culture (also called Hellenism) throughout his empire. In a short thirteen years, Alexander conquered the Persians and controlled one of the biggest empires in history. Lead by his fathers prejudice against the Persians and notorious temperament has lead many historians to wonder, was Alexander really great? Alexander's first battle was with the Persians at Granicus River in 334 B. C. E. By the following spring, Alexander controlled the entire western half of Asia minor. The Persian king, Darius the third, tried to stop Alexander but failed at Issus in 333 B. C. E. After his victory Alexander then turned south and by the winter of 332 B. C. E, Alexander controlled Syria, Palestine, and Egypt. In 331 B. C. E Alexander once again fought the Persians at Gaugamella in the Northwest of Babylon. After his victory Alexander entered the Persian capitols of Susa and Persepolis and plundered all of the gold and treasures of the city. Not satisfied with his victory over Persia, Alexander continued to pursue the Persian king Darius the third only to find that he had been killed by one of his own men. This lead Alexander to turn east to India. Exhausted and weary of yet another battle, Alexanders men mutinied against him and forced him to retreat from India. Alexander had created one the biggest empires the world has seen, but unable to leave an heir, it fell just as quickly as it rose after his death at the age of 32. Some speculated that fever or excessive alcohol consumption lead to his death, others believe that he was poisoned. Weather he had plans for a world empire are unknown, but in his fathers final wishes he reported to tell Alexander to † expand your empire for the one I left you is not enough. † Was Alexander really great? Alexander was a self proclaimed decedent of the Gods, claiming that he was related to Hercules. He was known to murder close Friends and advisers if they opposed his wishes and had a ferocious temper. By the end of his reign, Alexander has slaughtered thousand whose only crime was being in his way. His temperament leads one to believe that his armies succeeded for fear of Alexander rather than his leadership. However, Alexander's legacy was profound. He destroyed the Persian empire and and spread Hellenism throughout the lands. Without Alexander, the Greek culture would have fell and died alongside the empire.
